Common questions

How much does an electrician cost in Ipswich and Brisbane?

A standard service call with Vogue is attendance plus 30 minutes of fault finding, normally $195. Installation jobs such as fans, lighting, power points and switchboards are quoted in writing before we start, so there are no hourly surprises.

Can I install a ceiling fan or power point myself in Queensland?

No. In Queensland all fixed electrical work, including replacing a fan, light fitting or power point, must be done by a licensed electrician. DIY electrical work is illegal, voids insurance and is a common cause of house fires.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. Every job gets a Certificate of Test as required under Queensland electrical safety law. Keep it with your insurance papers; you will need it when you sell.

My safety switch keeps tripping. What does it mean?

An RCD trips when it detects current leaking to earth, usually from a faulty appliance, moisture in an outdoor fitting, or a damaged cable. Unplug appliances one at a time to narrow it down; if it still trips, book a service call and we will trace the circuit.

Do you do switchboard upgrades?

Yes. We replace old ceramic-fuse and rewireable-fuse boards with modern boards that have RCD safety switches on every circuit, surge protection, and spare capacity for air conditioning, solar, a battery or an EV charger.
